Franklin + jetrio at Hibernian House

Level 4. Buzz 401 on the door.

7pm. $10 entry.

First set: jetrio

jetrio was birthed from a communal disdain, for each member hated eachother's voices. Sean hated Alex's voice, who hated Blain's voice; so the vicious cycle went. With the aid of musical instruments, they were able to eschew conversation altogether and instead make "musics" of an "acceptable variety".

Blain Cunneen - guitar
Sean Valenzuela - piano
Alexander Inman-Hislop - drums

Second set: FRANKLIN

Franklin is a project led by bassist and composer, Joseph Franklin.

Sam Gill - saxophones
Joseph Lisk - trumpet
Ollie McGill - piano/synth
Joseph Franklin - bass
Alexander Inman-Hislop - drums

Some 45 years after it was composed, and rounding out the programme, is the Australian premiere of iconic Australian composer Moya Henderson’s Clearing the Air. These works speak to each other across two generations and BIFEM audiences are all the richer for the exchange.

THE MUSIC BOX PROJECT

As part of their residency at 2019 BIFEM, Sydney composer | performer collective The Music Box Project open this year’s festival with our 6th annual Cushion Concert, BIFEM’s next generation programme for pre-school audiences and their adult companions.

The Cushion Concert remains one of the most hotly contested performance opportunities for BIFEM artists. Holding the attention of an adult audience is a coded and negotiated space, but holding a group of under-5-year-olds’ attention really means you have to perform!

The exploratory collectivism that is the heart of The Music Box Project promises to deliver one of our best Cushion Concerts to date!
